For many people, 2020 was the year of change. For businesses and marketing, this was no different. Due to COVID, marketing has been flipped on its head as businesses have had to get creative with how they market to a customer they can’t get closer than 2 meters to. As well as this, apps such as Tik Tok and mediums such as Facebook Live have started to be utilized by businesses big and small. Trends can be hard to spot if you aren’t in the know, and before you know it they’ve been and gone before you’ve even had your morning coffee. Here at Visionary, we like making things easier, so we’ve made a list of trends we think are the way forward for 2021.
Going Live
I’ve said this before and I’ll say It again. GO LIVE! Live streaming is expected to be a $70.5 billion industry by the end of 2021. Due to the current pandemic going live helps you create a constant dialogue about your business and allow transparency with your consumer. According to Forrester, users watch live video 10 to 20 times longer than on-demand content, this makes live streaming the surefire way to connect to your audience. However this doesn’t mean just stick on a live stream when you are not ready, you want to create consistency in quality. It’s been found that consumers have a low tolerance for a bad stream. For many, 90 seconds is the most a viewer will tolerate a spotty stream ( Livestream). So make sure when you go live you have a good medium for you to tell your story through. As well as being able to create a story and connect with your customers on a personal level through live video, it can be a great way to support your customers when they are in need. A Forrester Research report found that financial services companies cut support time in half with video, instead of calling by phone.
Webinars
Many things have changed in the last year, one of those things is that in-person Webinars have gone completely virtual. Meaning that they become more accessible as long as you have internet. Here’s a couple of statistics
- Training webinars have an attendance rate of 65% in 2020.
- Training webinars have an attendance rate increases of 65% in 2020

When creating your own webinars remember to create something that is unique to your business and your mission statement. Make something you believe you can shed some light on and that people will be drawn into. Webinar Geek reported that the preferred duration of webinars is 30–40 minutes, keep this in mind when creating your webinars as short-form content keeps things interesting. Lastly, remember to create a mailing list to send invites and announcements to as email remains an important communication factor for signing up for webinars (Webinar Geek).
Repurposing Videos
